An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Family Finding Team within the Adoption Service based in Sheffield as part of One Adoption South Yorkshire. We work closely with Sheffield City Council Children’s Services to family find for children who have a plan of adoption and cannot return to live with their birth families. The role is varied including the early tracking of care plans for children who are coming into care and family finding for children whose plan is one of adoption.
There is the opportunity to share training, knowledge and expertise across children’s services, working closely with children’s social workers to find the right family for a child(ren). You will assist with operating the duty line for all aspects of adoption, and becoming involved with the training and development of prospective adopters.
There is also the opportunity to gain experience of adoption support using a trauma-informed approach. Adoption support is key in arranging successful matches of children and adopters.
The post is part- time (18.5 hours per week). You will need to be a qualified social worker with at least three years post qualifying childcare experience.
A good understanding of the legal and policy frameworks surrounding care proceedings, adoption and adoption support is essential.
Your role will involve extensive use of IT systems.
You will be part of a duty rota covering all aspects of adoption.
In return the successful candidates will receive regular and good quality supervision as well as support with their ongoing professional development.
Because we pride ourselves on excellent standards you must be highly motivated and committed to improving your practice via continuous professional development. You must be a qualified social worker and be registered with Social Work England, and willing to complete an enhanced DBS. Use of a car is desirable.
We are committed to the equality of opportunity in the services provided to customers and all aspects of employment. We warmly welcome applications from all sectors of the community. Our recruitment policies, procedures and practices enable all applicants to be considered on merit and ability to do the job. We will make reasonable adjustments, in line with the Equality Act, for disabled applicants if these are needed.
